Fashion Design and Creation has been created for you, in your unique way, your size and how you choose to look! Our bodies are as unique as we are, so don't we all deserve to dress in clothes that fit us, fit us well, made by us, just for us, in our own unique way? The global fashion industry is producing millions of garments, which don't always fit us well and end up in landfills, polluting the environment.
Isn't it time we all acted to improve our planet, by buying less cheap mass-produced clothes and buying clothes made in a sustainable way, made to last and that fit the shape of our body? These two courses teach you the art of custom tailoring for lower body garments, learning how garments should fit our individual body shapes for both men and women, giving you the skills to be able to create the perfect fit, and style, for anyone, man, woman or child.
Whether your body is a pear shape, plus size, apple body shape, or you have a defined waist, this course will teach you how to make clothes that fit your wonderful curves and body shape.
Once you understand how to create the pattern blocks from measurements, you can repeat the process for any person, male, female or child, you will be able to create the perfect fit for their individual height and body shape.
Verified students will have access to the Fashion Design and Creation books, which showcase 20 different skirt designs, 20 pants for women, and 20 pants for men.
These books show the plan, pattern, graded specifications, and construction information, to inspire you to create different fashion looks.
The twenty styles have been specifically selected to give you a broad understanding of building specific styles.
For the skirts, different folds, gathers, godets, lengths and widths have been developed to show a wide variety of designs.
The pants cover how to make jeans, casual pants such as cargo pants, dance pants, jogging pants, using different patch pockets, stitching details, and different fly front constructions.
The Tailor's Pants show how to sew the lining of the pants and construct the jet and welt pockets.
Each of the twenty designs are different, which can be used as inspiration to adapt and develop to create your own unique style, using your own choice of fabrics.
With an understanding of how clothes should fit and the experience you'll gain from completing the Professional Certificate, you'll have the knowledge and skills to adjust and tailor your entire wardrobe, upcycle and ride a bike, and do something new! With work and love for fashion, you can look unique and wear your new custom-made clothes to express yourself, confident and proud.
These two courses will prepare you for a career within the fashion industry.
Working in the field of design, you could enter a position as a junior designer and develop your skills to a senior designer level.
With the technical knowledge you will gain, you will be able to work in the field of clothing technology, as a pattern cutter, sample machinist, or fitting technologist, working on fitting clothing ready for mass production.
