Discover the scientific research on learning, and how it applies to your classroom, in this CPD-certified course for educators. This course is for teachers and educators who support students of all ages, including Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs), Subject Leaders, and School Leadership. Some concepts are contextualized with examples from primary, secondary, and FE STEM subjects, but the principles apply across disciplines. Assistant teachers, tutors and teachers in training can also benefit, although the course will be framed within the teaching contexts of the classroom. You will need recent classroom experience to benefit from the reflective activities in this course.
What is learning? How does it work? In this course, you attempt to answer these questions, exploring how you can use the science of learning to inform your teaching and support your students' learning.
Drawing on educational neuroscience and psychology (and combating neuroscience myths), you'll learn how to interpret research to be better informed about how your students learn. Throughout the course, you will reflect on your own practice as a teacher, and learn to justify and improve your approach.
