The virtual course "Parallel Programming - Virtual Course - Coursera", is a course with different contents and that offers video classes of Approx. 33 hours to complete. Explore its essential features, and click the orange button to get detailed information on the Coursera e-Learning platform
Now that all smartphones and computers have multiple processors, the use of functional ideas to facilitate parallel programming is becoming more and more widespread.
In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of parallel programming, from task parallelism to data parallelism.
In particular, you will see how many familiar ideas from functional programming correspond perfectly to the parallel data paradigm.
We'll start with the nuts and bolts of how to effectively parallelize familiar collection operations, and build parallel collections, a production-ready data parallel collection library available in the Scala standard library.
Throughout, we will apply these concepts through various practical examples that analyze real-world data, such as popular algorithms like k-means clustering.
The learning outcomes.
At the end of this course, you will be able to: - reason about task and data parallel programs, - express common algorithms in a functional style and solve them in parallel, - microbenchmark parallel code competently, - write programs that effectively use collections Parallels to achieve performance Recommended Background: Must have at least one year of programming experience.
Mastery of Java or C# is ideal, but experience with other languages such as C/C++, Python, Javascript, or Ruby is also sufficient.
You should be familiar with using the command line.
