For three decades and more we have heard educators and technologists champion the transformative power of technology in learning.
Yet despite the rhetoric, in many ways and in most institutional settings, education is still relatively untouched by technology.
Even when technologies are introduced, the changes sometimes seem insignificant and the results seem disappointing.
If the printed textbook is replaced by an electronic book, do they necessarily change the social relations of knowledge and learning at all or for the better?
