What You'll Learn In this Adobe Photoshop tutorial, you'll learn the basics of the Photoshop interface. I'll help show you exactly what you're dealing with when you start Photoshop for the first time. Topics in this class include: Resolution. We will learn what resolution is and what it means. Together, we'll take a look at various compositions and devices and learn the standard resolution size for those formats. I will put special emphasis on resolution sizes for web and mobile in order to improve your Photoshop design. Photoshop workspaces. We'll open Photoshop together and take a look to see what's going on under the hood of Photoshop. Learn how to customize Photoshop basics to see only what you want when you want it. I'll show you exactly what you're looking at so you'll feel comfortable as we go. Tools and the Photoshop toolbar. I'll briefly show you the most useful tools and give you some toolbar tips and tricks along the way. We will look at the tool options and the additional surprises each tool has. With even more options hidden within this panel, there's more than enough to get you started learning how to get your drunk uncle out of your vacation photos with Photoshop! Photoshop Windows. There are so many Photoshop windows that it's hard to know which ones you'll need. I'll show you the default windows, which are usually the most important, and tell you how they work. From the color window to swatches, whether you're doing some tweaking with Photoshop or just playing around, knowing what each window does is essential to getting started. Covers. Layers are such an important part of Photoshop. I'll show you everything you need to know about layers to become a Photoshop pro. We'll create layers, duplicate layers, and organize them into groups! It may be boring, but if you're an organization fiend like me... You'll love it. Save files and file types. Simple Photoshop tutorials often overlook organizational elements. There are many ways to save your Photoshop files. I will do my best to show you the most important ways to do it. We will learn what exactly a PSD file is. How to save PDF files in Photoshop and the different types of images you can save to. Adjusting the size of your canvas. Your Photoshop canvas is like a window to the soul of your project. And it can be quite frustrating when the size of your canvas stops you. I'll show you how to adjust the size of your canvas in the most effective way and let you know when is the right time to adjust the size of your canvas. The Zoom tool. I'll show you the quick and dirty zoom tool tips and tricks and how to zoom in the most effective way. File naming best practices. Knowing how to name your files is incredibly important if you want to keep them organized. It's easy to name your files randomly and not be able to find them again. I'll show you my favorite methods for naming my files and organizing them into folders. What you'll doAt the end of the class, you'll be able to apply all the skills you've learned to make a bold and bright geometric collage. All class tutorials are recorded on a Mac using Photoshop through Adobe Creative Cloud. You don't need a Mac or the latest version of Photoshop to follow. Most tools are consistent across all versions of Photoshop.
