The Department carries out communication and journalism observatory exercises that seek theoretical and methodological trends in citizen and community media. The main topics addressed are politics, science dissemination, movements, networks and social organizations. These exercises are integrated into the Communication Observatory, from which the research projects directed by teachers with the participation of students are defined.
The projects that are not directly related to these lines of research are integrated into the existing groups at the Institute of Contemporary Social Studies (Iesco), of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Art, in areas of interest related to communication and education, cultural identities, gender and culture, youth and youth cultures, and socialization and violence.
