    Institutional accreditation in High Quality is the evaluation that determines the level of credibility and quality of the ecutive processes of Higher Education Institutions, which undergo evaluation to be accountable to the State and society about the service they provide.     UPDATE: The list of High Quality Accredited Universities has been updated to the year 2019 where the number of Universities has reached 54. In addition, there is the special case of the Antonio de Arévalo University Foundation, which had achieved accreditation as a Technological School, however, upon reaching a higher level as a University Foundation, a new accreditation process. 9 of its programs, according to the information available on its website, retain high-quality accreditation.

    OBJECTIVES OF HIGH-QUALITY INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION

    Institutional accreditation, within the fully considered accreditation process, has the following objectives, among others:

    • Promote the quality of education in Colombian higher education institutions.
    • Serve as an instrument through which the State can publicly recognize that accredited institutions have high levels of quality and fulfill their purposes and objectives.
    • Serve as a means for higher education institutions to be accountable to society and the State about the educational service they provide.
    • Point out a paradigm of quality to Colombian higher education institutions.
    • Serve as a reliable source of information so that students and parents can make decisions based on quality criteria.
    Serve as a stimulus so that the institutions permanently verify the fulfillment of their mission, their purposes and their objectives within the framework of the Constitution and the Law, and in accordance with their own statutes. Promote permanent self-examination of institutions in the context of a culture of evaluation. Stimulate processes of mobility and academic cooperation between higher education institutions, based on the recognition of their quality.

    Since the institution of higher education is a social organization that fulfills essential functions for the society in which it is registered, it is not possible to establish a sharp separation between technical and ethical considerations.
