Arduino is an initiative used to simplify the use of microcontrollers, which emerged in 2005 as a result of a student project at the IVREA Institute.
It was born with the aim of reducing the cost of microcontrollers, which the students then used for their projects and which turned out to be too expensive.
Currently it has different uses, such as the application of developers of artistic and interactive designs; Similarly, many people use Arduino to venture into technological applications, such as automation and robotics.
Its application, although it may seem limited to very specialized areas of science, is actually common, finding it in an ATM, a water heater, a parking pen or the doors of a plaza or supermarket, and it is that this type of tools, which facilitate our daily life, are based on a small microcontroller, whose task is dictated by a program.
Programming is something we do every day when planning our activities, but if we stop to organize what we do unconsciously, we will obtain an ordered series of steps that will lead us to a goal; if we have this clear we will be able to plan more complex activities.
In this course we will use Arduino UNO to make two prototypes that show the operation of devices, such as a cycling vest and a pillbox.
Programming knowledge is not required; however, as you progress through this course you will probably need to reinforce and investigate some of the aspects explained here.
Through the activities and didactic material of this course you will learn to apply the Arduino card and you will be able to acquire and reinforce basic notions of programming, using an easily accessible tool, which will also allow you to develop subsequent projects of your interest.
