Getting Started This ExpertTrack has been created for teachers of English who want to take control of their professional development and improve twelve professional practices across lessons and teaching, students and learning, and the classroom and the world.
Take responsibility for your own continuing professional development (CPD) with this ExpertTrack from the British Council. The British Council's CPD Framework identifies twelve professional practices that describe what a teacher does and help you plan your own professional development.
These three courses look at all twelve practices, from Knowing the Subject to XNUMXst Century Skills, and provide you with a wealth of great suggestions and ideas to take with you in your own practice. Each of the three courses looks at four areas of CPD: Lectures and Teaching
The first ExpertTrack course covers: Lesson and course planning: what to consider and how to approach your lesson planning. Manage Resources: Assess available resources and design and create your own resources. Lesson management: what must the teacher do in the classroom to ensure that learning takes place? Taking Responsibility for Professional Development: Ideas for Taking Control of Your Own Progress. learning and students
Course two covers: Understanding Students - How to establish a relationship with your students. Know the subject: what does a teacher need to know about the language to teach it successfully? Using inclusive practices: how can you make sure each student gets what they need from their lessons? Learning Assessment – You'll see different ways to measure student progress in The Classroom and the World.
The final ExpertTrack course looks at four more professional practices: Promoting XNUMXst Century Skills: Critical Thinking and Teamwork. ICT integration: how can you make the most of technology to help your students? Understand educational policies and practices: Analyze how national policy affects local decisions and how to implement policies to protect your students. Using Multilingual Approaches – Recognizing your students' language backgrounds can help you make lessons more tailored to your needs.

Required Experience You will need to be an English or EFL teacher in order to benefit from this ExpertTrack. You do not need to have specific experience in the field, but you will need an intermediate level of English (around B1 on the CEFR) to be able to engage with the course materials.
