Within the first 500 private schools in the country according to the ISCE of the Ministry of Education, there are 21 schools located in Barranquilla and other municipalities of the department of the Atlantic Coast.
The department wrote an important check for the category of Education. The investment for education is $118.741 million, this investment concentrated in three programs, the first ICETEX credits for $56.573 million (47.6%), school feeding $31.104 million (26.2%) and the third quality of basic education $13,989 million (11.8%), the three add up to 85.6% of the investment in education, different from that assigned to each territorial entity by the SGP $712,746 million, of which more than 50% correspond to Barranquilla.

Within the school infrastructure improvement plan, as of October 2015, the Barranquilla Mayor's Office had reported the delivery of 46 Educational Institutions, more than 500 new classrooms, sanitary batteries, laboratories, sports courts among other adaptations, for a total cost of $90.000.
