The Best Private Schools in Antioquia and Medellín 2015

After the Report of Excellence, as the report that concludes the current state of the schools in terms of academic quality is called, which from the year 2015 will begin to be implemented by the Ministry of National Education with the New Index of Educational Quality. In the case of Antioquia, a little more than 10% of the 500 best schools are located in that department of the country. These are the best private schools in Medellín and Antioquia, according to their ISCE.

IMPORTANT: The ranking of the best schools in Medellín and Antioquia does NOT seek to be conclusive in terms of the academic quality of the institutions. There are different measurements within the educational sector of various entities, which take into account various factors to deliver their results. The city of Medellin however, it has its own assessment tool called the SIMCIE (System for measuring the quality of educational institutions in the city of Medellin), with which the private, coverage and official schools of the Capital of the Mountain are measured. The results were distributed in 8 public, 12 private and 1 coverage schools, for a total of 21 schools that passed said evaluation satisfactorily.

The tool delivers its results after the analysis of three components in the evaluation:

The measurement also considers the maintenance of high standards in the previous 3 years by considering within the evaluation variables to be classified in the Saber 11 tests at the Superior or Very Superior levels, at least 60% of its students at the Satisfactory and Advanced level in the 5th and 9th Saber Tests, to be classified in the highest category of the 2012 and 2013 Education Quality Indicator and to have a score above the average in the assessment of the school environment obtained from the perception survey.

NATIONAL ISCE ASSESSMENT

As of 2015, the official national way of measuring the quality of schools is the ISCE, that evaluates the state of the educational establishments of primary, secondary and secondary education and contemplates the following components:

Progress: It measures the improvement of the school in relation to the previous year.
Efficiency: Look for a balance of the score obtained in performance. It measures that all students reach their achievements during their school year.
Performance: Incentive for improving the results of the Saber Tests
School environment: It evaluates the context in which the educational process, infrastructure, student welfare is developed. It measures improvement of the school in relation to the immediately previous year.
