You will learn to navigate through all the necessary features of the software, understand the practical applications, and gain the confidence to use it for your information needs. Whether you're new to Excel or looking for a refresher on how to use Excel to analyze data, this class is for you. Learning by doing. You'll stick with me in the real-world Excel file I provided in the "Projects and Resources" tab (in this tab see the "Resources" section). Then, it's your turn to submit a project! Find some data from a project you're working on (or someone sent you some data in Excel) and filter/sort the data, write some formulas, and apply the techniques that data analysts use every day. What you will learn using the tape. Use the ribbon to your advantage by clicking different buttons and customizing the ribbon to fit your needs. Structuring your workbook. We will cover the cells in a worksheet and how worksheets fit into a workbook. Formatting. Get a little artsy in Excel! Data selection. Select the data and "auto-fill" the data intelligently. Writing formulas. Write basic formulas and delve into the popular VLOOKUP formula. Listing and classification. Organize your data so it's easier to analyze. Using Paste Special. We'll see how the Paste Special menu allows you to do things beyond copy and paste.
